EDCA Primary School Boys (PSB) 2010

This year's selectors/coaches are:

·         Keryn Carberry  Selector and PSB "A" Coach

·         Daniel Marsic Selector and PSB "Development" Coach

·         P Raj Coach & P T Subramaniam (Subu) Selector: PSB/Central "Development"

Grade convenors from each club will be asked to nominate boys who are in Year 7 and Year 8 to be put forward for trials for the PSB A and Development teams. These nominations need to be submitted to EDCA by 20th October.  EDCA is looking for around 43 nominations for this school year group (approx. Parnell 17, University 17, Grafton 9). While not totally strict, nomination numbers have been pro-rated according to the number of registered members each club has at this age level. Clubs are charged a pro-rata amount based on their number of trial nominations for the overall cost of providing coaches etc for the tournaments.  Last year, for example, clubs were levied a total of $6,150- which was split amongst the three clubs according to how many trial nominations they each submitted across the age groups.

The following letter will be sent to the nominated trialists:

EDCA SELECTION PROCESS

Primary School Boys (PSB)

The Eastern District Cricket Association selects 2.5 teams for the PSB Auckland Regional Tournament, held on 27-31 December. The players chosen will play against teams from the Western, Central, Manukau and North Harbour Districts, and an Auckland U.15 Girls team.

The selection process consists of a net trial for 43 players nominated by their Clubs, followed by 2 trial games involving approximately 32 players, from which 2.5 teams of 12 players are selected. There are also 2 non travelling reserves named who are expected to take a full part in team preparations as decided by the team coaches.

At this level of representation players are selected primarily on specialist skills, the mix of which is determined by the selectors for each team. While players may be regarded as all-rounders for their club or school team, they may be selected as a top or middle order batsman, bowler or wicketkeeper for the tournament. It would be reasonable for a player selected as a bowler, for instance, to expect 5 overs each game, with the likelihood of bowling more should form and circumstance warrant it.

This year the selection process is scheduled as follows:

  1. These players are invited to an open wicket trial, scheduled to take place on Sunday 7 Nov. at Sacred Heart College 8.30am-2.00pm. Please arrive at 8:30am. (Wet weather > indoor nets GUCC)
  2. A squad of 32 will be selected to play a trial match v North Harbour on Sunday 14 Nov at Eastdale Reserve, 9am - 4:30pm (50 over format).
  3. A squad of 26 will be selected to play in shadow A and B teams game on Sunday 21 Nov. against teams from Manakau; venue Lloyd Elsmore. Arrive 9:30am for 10am start (40 over format)
  4. The teams are scheduled to be named by 29 Nov.
  5. Capping at PCC’s new indoor facility on Thursday 2nd Dec, 6.00-7.30pm.
  6. The selectors will monitor form in club and school play through until the teams are named and also take account of each player’s attitude, enthusiasm and commitment. Last season’s performances will also be taken into account.

Please confirm your availability to participate in the trials and the tournament, if selected, to your club grade coordinator by 27th October.

Kind Regards, Martin Webster, Chairman, EDCA, 021-933923
