2010 Softball Holiday Clinics

Auckland University Cricket Club is pleased to announce that we will be running September school holiday softball cricket programmes.

With the season just around the corner, this is a great school holiday experience for both new and experienced cricketers to get some pre-season practice and a chance to have a fun time, while developing their cricketing skills.  The emphasis is on skills development rather than playing games of cricket.

The sessions cover the different aspects and techniques of fielding (throwing, catching, stopping, pick up and wicket-keeping; bowling (spin and swing); batting shots (grip and stance, front and back foot drives, the pull-shot, etc) and running between the wickets.

The skills are taught, practised and then displayed in modified games, relays and competitions.  All are done with tennis balls and Milo equipment.

There will be two x 2-day clinics, run by qualified cricket coaches, each held over two consecutive days.  Whist it is a 2-day programme, bookings can be requested for just one of the days but preference will be given to players registering for both days.  Spaces are limited so it might not be possible to accept single day bookings, which can only be confirmed just before the clinic starts.

The cost is $50 per day.  Spaces are limited.

The clinics will take place at the Selwyn College Gymnasium (access via the main entrance to the ASB Stadium on Kohimarama Road) - so they are not weather dependant, though if it is fine we will move outside for some of the time.

The first clinic is on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th September.

The second clinic is on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th October.

Each day begins at 9am and finishes at 3pm.

These clinics are open to boys and girls in Years 2 through 6 and Girls U12(Players in Years 5 and 6 and U12 Girls Hardball should note that there is no opportunity to use the hardball in this clinic.  Please refer to Hardball Clinic 2010 as an alternative).

Each participant is required to bring a water bottle, snack, lunch, hat and sunscreen.

To make a booking and payment, log in to our ClubHub system using the "member login" link above, then select "Tasks" and "Book a Coaching Course".  (Bookings can be made for daily attendance but priority will be given to two-day registrations if oversubscribed.)

I encourage you to act quickly to avoid disappointment - it should be a great time for all.  If you have any further questions, please contact me on 528-7931 or admin@aucc.co.nz

Kind regards,

Richard Walker
