From the
Junior Coaching Director, Nigel Fletcher:
On behalf of the Junior Coaching
team, welcome to the 2010-11 season at Auckland
University Cricket Club.
Although the weather is still in
Winter mode, we have a good range of coaching sessions
and courses lined up to get players, parents and coaches
back into the swing of things.
I encourage all parents of
boys and girls of any age to up-skill yourselves to give
you the tips and tools necessary to guide your young
cricketers appropriately. We have courses available for
you to attend.
Team Coaches: We are
looking to you to lead the way this year, and have
courses for you too. All courses are New Zealand
Cricket accredited, and you will receive expert tuition,
useful resources and plans to take away with you, and a
coaching qualification to set you on the way on the
coaching pathway. All Team Coaches are expected
to attend a course if they have not done so previously.
They are free of charge.
Boys and girls: We have
lined up sessions for you to attend; whether it be an
introduction to hard ball cricket, tightening up
technique, understanding the importance of fitness in
cricket, holiday programmes or simply getting back into
cricket after your Winter sports.
Once you have registered for the
coming season, please take some time to look at what is
on offer, and support the club and its team of qualified
coaches, and register for a suitable pre-season
programme by going to “Purchase a Coaching Course” on
ClubHub. Please note as resources are finite, spaces
are limited so act quickly as whether “by invitation” or
“open to all”, places will be allocated on a first come
and paid basis.
Once the season is underway, we
also have weekly free coaching sessions for the younger
grades (Years 2-4) to complement your own team
practices. These also serve as a good way for Team
Coaches to pick up further tips for training and drills.
We look forward to seeing you over
the coming weeks in the lead up to better weather and
the season ahead.
