Blues Academy

Train. Develop. Belong

The AUCC Blues Academy is our development program for Under 10, Under 11, and Under 12 players who want to take their cricket to the next level.

Whether your child is keen on representative teams down the track or just wants to build confidence, sharpen their skills, and play alongside mates across the club, the Academy gives them the extra coaching and game time to get there.

Unlike traditional rep setups that only pick a handful of players, the Blues Academy is open to every AUCC player in U10–U12. Every child gets access to quality coaching, our indoor facility, and additional matches throughout the summer.

Why Join the Blues Academy?

Great players are built through good coaching, solid time in the nets, and having fun on the field.

The Academy is built to sit alongside Saturday cricket. It adds a structured weekly training session where players get extra attention on their technique while training with kids from other AUCC teams.

What players get out of it:

  • Focused, age-appropriate coaching with small groups

  • Technical work on batting, bowling, and fielding

  • Wicketkeeping coaching opportunities

  • Game awareness, learning fielding positions and tactical understanding

  • Gaining confidence in their game

  • Making mates across different Saturday teams

  • Additional representative-style playing opportunities

  • A fun, active environment where kids feel comfortable having a go

One Club. One Academy.

One of the best things about the Blues Academy is that it brings together players from all of our Saturday teams.

Training alongside kids from across the age group builds new friendships, healthy competition, and a much stronger bond with AUCC as a whole. Parents often tell us this is one of the highlights of the season.

Experienced Coaches

Our coaching team consists of many of AUCC’s most experienced junior and senior coaches.

Most importantly, our coaches know junior cricket. They create a positive environment where kids feel comfortable testing themselves, learning from mistakes, and enjoying their sport.

Great Facilities

AUCC players train at one of the best club setups in Auckland so the kids never miss a session, rain or shine.

Training sessions utilise our:

  • Four-lane Indoor Training Facility

  • Outdoor wickets

  • Grass practice areas

  • Modern training equipment

Development Comes First

While extra tournaments are exciting, the Academy isn't just about picking tournament squads.

Our approach is straightforward:

  • Every child who wants to improve should have the opportunity to do so.

  • Some players want to push for rep cricket; others just want to hit the ball better and spend more time playing with friends. The Academy is built for both.

We judge our success not just by who makes rep teams, but by seeing every player leave training smiling, confident, and eager for the next session.

Tournament & Match Opportunities

Academy players can be considered for extra matches and tournament teams throughout the season, including:

  • JT Sparling Tournament: Our flagship inter-club event featuring top junior clubs across Auckland. Played over two weekends, with teams playing 4 matches including finals.
