AUCC Youth Programme (Y9-Y13)
AUCC is all about continuing a lifelong love for cricket by providing our youth players with a true home and a positive place to enjoy the game. Bridging the gap between junior and senior cricket, we offer a fantastic club culture where players can thrive—whether they are chasing representative honours or simply looking for a place to play socially with mates.
How our programme works:
We know that most of our youth male players take the field on Saturdays representing their school colleges. Our AUCC Youth Programme is specifically designed to complement college cricket, offering flexible mid-week and Sunday options that give players extra time on the turf, a chance to play with their club mates, and a safe space to develop their skills.
Playing Opportunities & Experiences
We offer flexible formats to fit around busy high school schedules and varying skill levels
1. AUCC Mid-Week Big Bash
The Big Bash reimagines mid-week college level cricket by combining a fun T20 game with an inclusive, high-energy format where every player gets a piece of the action
Who: College students Y9 to Y11.
When: Thursday nights at 5:15 PM.
Where: All games are played locally to minimise the travel time. Ideally all games will be at the same ground each week.
Season Dates: You can opt to play in one or both Big Bash competitions:
-
2026 Term 4 (6 weeks). 12th November - 17th December
-
2027 Term 1 (6 weeks) 11th February - 18th March
The Format: A 9-a-side, T20 competition open to all abilities. This is strictly about equal opportunity—everyone bowls, everyone bats, and every batter gets a 6-ball grace period when they come to the crease to ensure they can't be dismissed early and get a proper turn.
Training: No training required! The Big Bash is a strickly a "show up & play" social format. Just rock up on Thursday nights ready for action
Game-Day Duties: Each team will need to supply one umpire and one scorer for their matches
How to Join:
You can enter the Big Bash in one of three ways:
1. Play for your college: Some local colleges field their own teams—Selwyn and Glendowie Colleges have successfully done this in the past. If you attend either of these schools, please contact your School Cricket Sports Convenor to arrange your place in the team.
2. Register as an individual: If your college doesn't have a team, no sweat! Simply register as an individual through the AUCC website and we will place you in an AUCC club team.
3. Bring your own crew: You are also more than welcome to gather your own group of mates, create a team, and enter the competition together.
Our Big Bash Philosophy
While this is a competitive league where teams are absolutely encouraged to go for the win, it is explicitly designed as a safe, judgement-free learning environment.
We want our players to push themselves, refine new skills, and perfect their leadership as captains. To do that, they need to feel safe enough to make mistakes—after all, that is how they truly learn! We ask all coaches, parents, and players to embrace and champion this philosophy.
2. Senior Twilight Competition (New for Y12 & Y13!)
Looking for a social, fast-paced game to play with mates or transition into senior club cricket?
Who: College students in Years 12 and 13.
What: Our popular twilight competition is the perfect mid-week smash for older teens looking to keep playing cricket in a fun, adult social atmosphere.
Details:Monday starting at 6pm, 8 a side, 14 overs per side
